Barry Harper was born and raised in Grenada, MS.  He graduated from Grenada High School in 1977 and attended Delta State University in Cleveland on a football scholarship.  While at Delta State, he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1981.   Upon graduation, he entered the management training program with Hancock Bank in Gulfport, MS.  Three years later, he accepted a position with Mr. Dub Herring, his father-in-law, in Picayune, MS. working in both the automotive and RV stores for 21 years.

 

In September, 2001, an opportunity to start his own dealership presented itself and Barry established Barry Harper Dodge in Poplarville, MS.  Barry Harper Dodge has become a Five Star "Elite" dealership recognized for their sales and sevice excellence by Chrysler.  He served as President and General Manager for 3 years and opened HarperTowne R.V.'s in January, 2004. 

 

Barry currently serves as a member of the Pearl River Community College (PRCC)  Board of Trustees and as a deacon at Roseland Park Baptist Church in Picayune where he and his wife have served for the past 25 years.   He is past president of Picayune Youth Athletic Association and  the Picayune Maroon Tide Diamond Club.  Barry is an avid sports fan and has worked in radio sports broadcasting for the past 13 years.  He currently works as sideline reporter for PRCC and at WRJW 1320 AM (Picayune) as co-host of the Saturday Morning After sports talk show during football season. 

 

Barry is married to the former Cindy Herring of Biloxi and they have three adult children.  Barry and Cindy reside in McNeill, MS.
